| Event Calendars in
General |

|
|
| |
Putting a calendar of events on a
website can be a double-edged sword. In one respect it satisfies visitors'
needs for current information - providing the information can be kept
current.
You might be amazed how many times
site owners that depend on an events calendar for advertising (musicians,
speakers, etc.) tell us:
The biggest problem I have is that
my web person sometimes takes 2-3 weeks to put up a change to the
calendar. In a time crunch, an event might not appear on the calendar
until after it is over!
Ouch! Not good!
Here's a fact worth considering:
When it comes to keeping key
portions of your website up to date (like a calendar), you are
the best person to do those updates.
In fact, after we install our
online calendar of events, here is what you will need to update your
calendar anytime you want or need to:
- A web browser. The one you are
using to read this page is fine.
- The ability to type.
"Two-finger" typing is acceptable.
- Can read and follow the
on-screen instructions.

| What it looks like on a
website |

|
|
| |
We
have used this calendar on a lot of websites and in it's simplest form,
the "main page" looks like the one shown at a
voice-over/musician's site we've worked on for quite a number of years.
See the page at http://www.BillBarwick.com/appearances.shtml
to get an idea of what the display looks like (link opens a new window;
close to return to this page).
In the time since this program was
first created (about 4 years ago), it has undergone numerous revisions.
One of those revisions are additional "enhancements" that can
be added, like the scrolling box to the right. (Hover over any part of the text to
pause the display.)
This bit of gimmickry does have it's
uses. One of the best we have found is to put a scrolling display on the
Home Page of a website to show visitors what's happening right now
and without having to drill to the full Calendar page. (They can, of
course, by using the link provided.)
One other reminder: All displays can be modified to suit the requirements of our clients.

| Do Your Updates Online - Anytime, anywhere |

|
|
| |
This is important: your
will need to provide your own software in order to update an online calendar on your
website. That software is:
A web
browser.
Since you already have that
(otherwise, how could you be reading this page?), why not
try your hand at adding or modifying a calendar event -
right now? We have a
fully functional calendar admin program available for you to
try. Just click here. In
fact, to try out the calendar update -
- Use the link above (or this
one) to access the admin program and enter a new
event.
- Make sure your First
date is earlier than today and the Last date
is later than today.
- Save your new record.
- Click this
link to see the full calendar page and your new
event.
- All links open into a
new browser window; simply close those windows to return
to this page.
By the by - all data is
reset daily.

a full explanation of the major features of this program,
